Let's start some REAL blogging!

Hey, 5th graders! Not too bad on those first "Reading Zone" entries.  (Make sure you finish yours up if you haven't already.)

BUT, if we want some serious comments, we're going to need to begin posting our own individual writing.  So, how about copying and pasting in those quick write stories you worked so hard on last week. OR you could type up something you've added to your composition notebook lately.  OR you could just make up a new entry.  Just remember to RESPECT my (Mrs. T.G.'s) time as I have to read and approve every entry--no just plain silly entries.  You can also feel free to read what other kids are writing and post a COMMENT on someone else's writing.  (I have to read and approve those, too, so again, no silly comments, please.)

Finally, REMIND me to show you how you can change the LOOK of your defaultown blog page by changing the background and adding a picture or two.

 Happy blogging!

-Mrs. T.G.

Mrs. T.G. noticed...

First of all, I just want to acknowledge how much COURAGE it takes to PUBLISH your writing so that all kinds of readers can look at it! Way to go, 5th graders!

That said, I was a little hesitant to allow some of these posts to be published because of spelling and grammatical errors.  WOW! A LOT of you even forgot to capitalize the word "I"! We will HAVE to work on THAT! Tongue out  BUT, I was "Mrs. Nice Guy" as I thought about how this was your FIRST entry.  So, visitors beware! Typos are all over the place on these first entries.  I won't stress perfection, but we certainly will work on improving!

Catch you later!

You are entering... THE READING ZONE!

We spent the first three days of school discussing what the phrase "in the zone" meant applied to reading.  Then I asked the kiddos to get me a picture of themselves in a "Reading Zone" at home and to write a short paragraph about what that meant to them.  (You can see those photos by checking out THIS link.)This was our FIRST project to be posted on our blog pages.  More individualized writing will follow.  Thanks for visiting!

WELCOME TO SNEAK PEEKERS!

So glad some of you are taking a sneak peek at our classroom blog site! Open House is Monday, August 18, from 5:00-6:00. I'm HOPING to have the "Blogging Agreement" contract finalized by then so your parents can look it over. Then our first blogging assignment will begin this first week of school! (I have it listed on our "Homework" page already.)

School begins on Wednesday, August 20. TIMES ARE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT THIS YEAR! Class will begin at 8:10, which is earlier than last year. Also, TOWN kids will be dismissed at 3:10 and bus kids shortly after, around 3:15, which is later than last year.

Hope to see everyone Monday night!

Sincerely,
Mrs. T.G. Cool
